I am not always in leggings. I know! I am shocked, too! When it’s cold enough to need a coat, but warm enough to leave the coat open is my favorite kind of weather. Here in East Tennessee, it’s surprisingly warm compared to what I was expecting it to be. As I am writing this post, it is 67 degrees Fahrenheit outside. SIXTY SEVEN! We’ll save the global warming talk for another time…

This trench coat is the perfect piece for a high-40s to high-50s kind of day, which happens often around here. I got it at Nordstrom during the friends and family sale this spring, and while I am pretty sure the Britons that designed the jacket meant for it to be used in the summer (it can get a little chilly in northern England and Scotland in the summer), I think it’s great for fall and warmer winter days.

And the nice thing about trench coats is that the can be dressed up or down. This one actually looks really cool with the right pair of sweatpants, for that “I’m too cool to care look”. It also looks good with a black or grey turtleneck, and can almost be paired with everything… except my Star Wars Vans.

This is the first trench coat I’ve ever had! My dad is a coat hoarder and has a few, but this was a first for me, and I’m happy that I made the purchase.

What’s your favorite coat and what gets you through the winter?
